Our national Memorial Day approaches when we once again affirm our deep love and respect for the innumerable service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice for duty, honor and country. Called to be part of something greater than themselves, these were ordinary people who rose to that call because they wanted to protect the country that had given them – has given all of us – so much.
Veterans Memorial Park Foundation of Pensacola, March 21, 2018 – Pensacola’s Veterans Memorial
Park will host its annual Memorial Day observance on Sunday, May 27 at 1:00PM. The guest speaker
will be the Mayor of Pensacola, Ashton Hayward.
During the ceremony the Foundation will unveil its newest memorial honoring our nation’s sacrifices to
the ongoing Global War on Terror. This memorial includes an artifact from the World Trade Center
attack in New York on September 11th, 2001. Local artist and the creator of the memorial Randy New
The Foundation will also recognize several local students for their artwork themed “Memorial Day: a
special time to remember those who gave their lives in service to their country.”
Veterans Memorial Park of Pensacola honors the memory of those who have sacrificed their lives in the
service and defense of our nation. In demonstrating by example, the sacrifice that love and duty
sometimes require of a free people they have placed themselves eternally in the grateful memory of all
Americans. Veterans Memorial Park exists as a place of repose and veneration for the spirits of the slain,
to be kept forever free of discord and contention.
